Mahadev Raman is a General Partner at Nirman Ventures, bringing more than four decades of experience in engineering, sustainable design, global project leadership and corporate governance.

Mahadev spent his career at Arup, the global engineering and design firm, where he held senior leadership roles including Chair of the Americas, member of the Arup Group Board and Director of Arup University. He is an Arup Fellow and currently serves as Chair of Arup Trustees, helping steward the independence, long-term direction and culture of the trust-owned firm.

A mechanical engineer by training, Mahadev has led multidisciplinary teams on major projects around the world and is recognized for his expertise in sustainable, high-performance and energy-efficient buildings. His work has focused on applying advanced engineering and analytical techniques to improve the performance of complex physical systems.

Mahadev is also a longtime educator and currently serves on the faculty of Princeton University’s School of Architecture, where he is listed as a Visiting Lecturer.

At Nirman, he brings deep domain expertise in the built environment, engineering systems, sustainability and governance, helping evaluate technologies through both a technical and industry-adoption lens.
