Maria Atkinson is an environmental scientist and is internationally recognized for her work in sustainability. In 2012, she was awarded a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to the construction and real estate sector, particularly as a leader and contributor to environmentally sustainable building development.

Maria has worked with impact investment since 2006 and has over 15 years of experience on corporate, not-for-profit, international institution and government boards and committees.

She has been the Chair of the UN’s Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative, an advisor to the Finance Initiative Property Group, a member of the Singapore Building and Construction Authority’s International Panel of Experts and Co-Chair of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Sustainable Construction. She is currently the Chairperson of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction in Switzerland, and she participates in many international forums on future markets and political policy issues.
